The Scared is Scared

http://vimeo.com/58659769

An incredible video (and vimeo Staff Pick) made by a recent Middlebury grad. So many things I could say, but I'll let Asa do the talking.

SHARK-NADO!!!

Also in the spirit of creativity?

Oh Devendra, how you melt my Hart

It's just one of those days for embracing wild and free spirited creativity...

a few wise words on language

"If you don't like nouns becoming verbs than for heavens sake avoid Shakespeare who made a thing-word into a doing-word every change he got...it's only ugly because it's new and you don't like it. Ugly the way Picasso, Stravinsky and Eliot were once thought ugly."

The Subject Tonight is Love - Hafiz

A few selections from one of my all-time favorite poetry collections...

The Happy Virus
I caught the happy virus last night
When I was out singing beneath the stars.
It is remarkably contagious -
So kiss me.

A Great Need
Out
Of a great need
We are all holding hands
And climbing.
Not loving is a letting go.
Listen,
The terrain around here
Is
Far too
Dangerous
For
That.

Why Not Be Polite?
Everyone
Is God speaking.
Why not be polite and
Listen to
Him?

The Journey
Where am I going on this wonderful journey?
To your house, of course!

A little Rilke for a rainy day

I live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one
but I give myself to it.

I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I've been circling for thousands of years
and I still don't know: am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?

a j term return

"today"

today i'm flying low and i'm
not saying a word.
i'm letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

the world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
and so forth.

but i'm taking the day off.
quiet as a feather.
i hardly move though really i'm traveling
a terrific distance.

stillness. one of the doors
into the temple.
